ABOUT ME
DESIGN IS ALL AROUND US.
From the billboards in our town, to the posters and business cards at our favorite coffee shop, or even the advertisements on our social media profiles, design is both a necessary and intricate part of our world. We can’t escape it! But many have found ways to ignore it.
But not me!
Growing up, I realized that I saw the world differently. I was able to take a step back and recognize design in my everyday life. I was quick to ask questions like why does this grab my attention? why does this one fall short? is this design clear or effective? is it on-brand?
While attending Northern Illinois University, I was able to answer the many questions that I had. The truth is that the elements and principles of design are foundational to the design in our world! These elements and principles compose everything in existence and marketing is no exception.
I applied the elements and principles of design while working at Rieke Interiors — a furniture manufacturer and interior design studio. In my role, I most notably assisted with developing the company’s rebranding elements and transformed their outdated digital and print marketing materials using the Adobe Creative Suite. Additionally, I applied the elements and principles of design to Vertical Interior Design Studio’s newly updated website (Vertical Interior Design Studio is a company of Rieke Interiors).
In addition to the many creative projects that I performed at Rieke Interiors, I acted as a one-woman-show. As a department of one, I had to be incredibly mindful of my time! This required me to be well-organized, well-spoken and confident in my decision-making. In order to preserve my time, I established several workflows to increase efficiency within my department, with consulting partners, and with other departments.
My husband and friends know me as a dog mom, lover of fashion and interior design enthusiast. In my free time, you’ll likely find me with my dog, Ani, reading articles in Vogue or Architectural Digest, scouring Facebook Marketplace for the perfect antique piece, or sourcing my dream wardrobe at Ralph Lauren, Reiss and J.Crew.
